REELFOOT PRESERVATION PERMITS.  The Lake Reelfoot Preservation Permit was established by the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency (TWRA) in 1985 and initiated in March 1986.  The permit allows legal access for boating, fishing and hunting on Lake Reelfoot (and Washout).  There is a choice of a daily, 3-day and/or an annual permit.  The permits aid the TWRA in monitoring the flow of users on and around the lake.  These permits are invalid outside Reelfoot Lake.  Residents under 16 and over 65 years of age are exempt from obtaining the permit.  According to the figures from the 1991-96 Reelfoot Lake Annual Reports, there has been an increase in 3-day passes sold per year.
